The SkiLink concept, which was around for many years, was adopted and championed by Talisker, a lifestyle development and operating company and the parent company of Canyons Resort.
Talisker has invested substantially in Utah over the last 10 years and employs approximately 2,000 people in its Utah operations. The Robb Report has touted Talisker as the #1 mountain community destination experience in the United States. As a result of its recreation of Canyons, Talisker has extended its offerings of unique mountain experiences, including over 1,200 hotel rooms and best-in-class amenities.

ELECTED OFFICIALS AND BUSINESS LEADERS
"I strongly support the idea of an Interconnect ski system in the Wasatch Mountains--I think it will knock people's socks off. If people could ski in 2 or 3 resorts in one day, it would be a wonderful recreational improvement and would keep Utah skiing at the forefront, generating jobs and more innovations."
- Utah Governor Gary R. Herbert
SkiLink Compatible With Clean Water
"Water quality is once again in discussion as we consider SkiLink. I support SkiLink and disagree with the speculation that a gondola will harm our water quality. My disagreement is based on evidence. SkiLink would only require a narrow area within a 30-acre footprint An initial environmental study conducted for SkiLink by Cirrus Ecological Solutions, an environmental firm in Logan, Utah, reported no significant impacts to the watershed or water quality from a gondola. I unreservedly agree we must be careful to balance our future water quality needs, but the balance must be without prohibiting activities that are a vital source of our economic well-being in Utah - like skiing and snowboarding."
- Jake Garn, U.S. Senator and Salt Lake Water Commissioner
"We have the greatest snow on earth and this proposed connection between Canyons and Solitude resorts provides the opportunity to offer more access to it. As mayor of one of Utah's largest cities, one of my biggest concerns is how our transportation system will keep up with Utah's growth. We need more ideas like this connection to keep people moving while maintaining access to Utah's great recreational areas. I enthusiastically support this bold vision. It offers tremendous promise to be a transportation boon for both sides of the Wasatch and an unrivaled attraction to further increase tourism to our spectacular resorts."
- Sandy Mayor Tom Dolan
"The idea of a connection between Canyons and Solitude is very forward thinking. It would add a new dimension to the Utah ski experience that would serve to further differentiate our resorts and enhance the ski product in Utah. It also provides the tremendous opportunity to increase skier days at Park City resorts which would be a great benefit to our local economy."
- Park City Chamber/Bureau President and CEO Bill Malone
"The Greater Sandy Area Chamber of Commerce supports the concept of ski interconnect, and we support SkiLink as the best first step to the interconnect."
- Sandy Area Chamber of Commerce Chairman of the Board Dan Simons
Sandy Area Chamber of Commerce Resolution
OPINION LEADERS
"Over the decades, there have been several proposals to connect Utah's ski resorts by way of trains, trams and tunnels. Given the proximity of Utah's Wasatch Front resorts, such connections could give birth to an interconnected complex of ski resorts, thereby creating a potent marketing weapon for supremacy among western ski destinations. It is a distinction that would certainly inure to the benefit of the Canadian-based Talisker and Utah's ski industry as a whole. Talisker's interconnect plan, which focuses just on gondola access instead of new ski terrain, is among the most responsible plans we have seen."

"Intriguing Proposal"
SKIERS, SNOWBOARDERS, OUTDOOR ENTHUSIASTS
"How nice would it be to be able to ski Solitude for part of a day and Canyons for part of a day without driving? That would be sweet. And the view from the lift would be something else. I am for SkiLink all the way."
-Wesley Powell, Park City
"I support SkiLink connecting Canyons and Solitude resorts. Protection of and access to the mountains are both important to me as an avid skier. This project provides both benefits as well as the added benefit of helping Utah resorts better compete with Colorado resorts."
- Chris Sammartino, Park City and Hollywood, Fla.
"Right now, to ski a Cottonwood Canyon resort and a Park City resort in the same day would mean wasting a lot of time driving from one to the other. But, worse, the cost of two half-day passes would really be prohibitive. SkiLink sounds like it could solve this problem -- less hassle, less wasted time, more skiing and a two resort experience in a single day. I'm not sure why any skier would be against this win-win."
- Dan Gates, Salt Lake City
